Variations of this issue:
- The Apple Watch isn't working
- The turn signals aren't working with the Apple Watch
- The turn signals are going off randomly with my Apple Watch
- The turn signals are not going off at all despite me pairing it with my Apple Watch
If your Apple Watch isn't working correctly with your helmet, here are a few things you should check to troubleshoot.
1. Are your Apple Watch and helmet paired together?
You first need to download the Lumos Helmet app on your Apple Watch. Please see how to do this here. You can also do this by going to your App and then to Settings > Watch App Setup and following the on-screen instructions.
2. The Lumos App won't download on my Apple Watch!
There have been reported instances where the app was downloaded but not installed onto an Apple Watch, like the screenshot below:
Solution: Please be sure that your Watch OS is on the latest firmware (check for updates). Our app requires the Watch to be watchOS 9.1 and above.
Should you encounter the same issue or any other problem despite the update, do email us at support@lumoshelmet.co
3. Is your Apple Watch paired with your iPhone? Is it paired with only one helmet?
Please note that your Apple Watch and iPhone should be paired with the same helmet. The Apple Watch can only be paired with one helmet at a time as well.
If this does not solve your issue, please send us an email over at support@lumoshelmet.co with a detailed description of your case. Please also send us a video that clearly shows the problem you're running into with the watch, phone, and helmet.
4. My gestures are not working! No gesture is being recognized by the Apple Watch.
Please make sure that you have the Compass Calibration setting turned on in your iPhone.
Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services (Bottom most) and turn on compass calibration.
5. My turn signals are not being activated by Apple Watch - The watch recognizes my gestures but the turn signals are not showing on my devices
In the case of the turn signals not being activated, ensure that your Lumos App is opened up along with the screen NOT being locked. The iPhone and the App needs to be active throughout the ride. The Apple Watch sends the turn signal message to the iPhone's Lumos App which in turn sends the signal to your helmet.
6. My Lumos App keeps getting killed - Multiple apps are being used while riding
Unfortunately, there is a possibility of your Lumos App being killed if you are using other Apps that also require high resources such as tracking apps. If possible, we recommend that you have the Lumos App run in the foreground and your tracking app in the background.
