The Lumos app brings your helmets and lights together in one place. Use it to set up your devices, customize your lighting, check battery levels, and install firmware updates.
Follow this guide to download the app and get familiar with the basics.
Already using Lumos? To find out what the latest update brings to your existing devices, see Which new features can I use with my devices?
1. Download the app
Download Ride Lumos from your phone’s app store:
- iPhone: Download on the App Store
- Android: Get it on Google Play
You can also search for “Ride Lumos” in the store. Check the store listing for your phone’s compatibility requirements.
If you already have the app installed, check for an update on the same store page.
2. Get ready to connect
You don’t need to create an account or sign in to use the Lumos app. Simply download the app and follow the steps below to connect your devices.
Before adding your devices:
- Make sure your Lumos helmet or lights have enough charge to turn on.
- Keep them near your phone during setup.
- Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
- Open the Lumos app and allow Bluetooth access when prompted. On Android, this may appear as a Nearby devices permission.
These permissions let the app find and connect to your devices. If you previously denied access, you can change it in your phone’s settings. See the permission guides for iPhone or Android.
3. Add your helmet and lights
Add your devices from inside the Lumos app:
- On the Dashboard, tap + to add a device.
- Press and hold the power button on your helmet or light to put it into pairing mode.
- When it appears in the app, tap Pair and follow the setup prompts.
- Repeat for your other helmets and lights.
Pairing-mode instructions vary by model. For the full walkthrough, see Pair your helmet and lights with the app.
Once paired, your device will appear on the Dashboard. When it is connected, you can check its battery level and access its available settings.
If the app prompts you to update your device firmware, see How to update the Lumos app and device firmware. Some features require an updated device as well as an updated app.
Device not appearing? See My device won’t appear or connect.
4. Find your way around
There are two main areas to get familiar with:
| Area | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | View your paired devices, check their connection and battery status, and view your current scene. |
| Customize | Adjust your lighting settings, create custom scenes, and choose which three scenes to keep on your devices. |
A scene brings together the lighting settings for your helmets and lights, so you can switch your whole setup to suit your ride.
Start with the three preset scenes: Always On, Night Ride, and Day Ride. You don’t need to create a custom scene to get started.
For a closer look at scenes and synchronized control, see Use scenes and control your lights together.
