You can use your Lumos devices with another phone by pairing them with the Lumos app on that phone. You do not need to unpair them from your old phone first.
Settings stored on your devices can be read back after pairing. However, custom scenes and flash patterns stored only in the app do not transfer to the new phone.
1. Know what carries over
A custom lighting pattern already saved on a device remains part of that device’s stored configuration. Reading it back does not restore the complete custom-pattern library from your old phone.
The current app has no account system and no export, import, or migration feature for app-only scenes and flash patterns.
Before you delete anything
If you want to recreate your favorite app-only scenes or patterns, take screenshots or make notes of their settings while you can still access them.
Keep those references somewhere you can access from your new phone. They can help you recreate settings manually, but they are not an app backup or an importable file.
Do not delete the app or clear its local data expecting to restore these items later. Once deleted, they cannot be recovered through Lumos.
Device settings can be read back. App-only scenes and pattern libraries do not transfer.
2. Pair your devices with the new phone
Install the app
Download the latest Lumos app on your new phone. Turn on Bluetooth and allow the permissions needed to find and connect to your devices.
No account or sign-in is required.
For download links and setup help, see Download and get started with the Lumos app.
Add your helmets and lights
- Open the app and tap + on the Dashboard.
- Put a helmet or light into pairing mode.
- When it appears in the app, tap Pair.
- Repeat for the other devices you want to use with this phone.
You can do this directly on the new phone without removing the devices from the old phone’s app.
For model-specific instructions, see Pair your helmet and lights with the app.
Add your app-compatible remote
If you use a USB-C Lumos Remote running BLE firmware, pair it with the app on the new phone as well.
Follow Pair and set up your Lumos Remote. That guide also explains the different setup paths for Remote Lite and older square remotes.
Check the settings read from your devices
Once each device is connected, let the app read its stored settings. Check that its lighting settings and, for bike lights, assigned position are as expected.
You do not need to recreate settings already stored on the devices.
If the app asks whether to replace a device’s scene settings with settings from other paired devices:
Choose Cancel to keep that device’s existing settings.
Choose Sync only if you want to apply the other settings.
Pair on the new phone to read the settings already saved on your devices.
3. Recreate any app-only scenes and patterns you need
Your old phone’s app-only scene and pattern libraries will not appear automatically on the new phone.
Use any screenshots or notes you kept to recreate the items you want. You can continue using the settings already stored on your devices while rebuilding your app library.
For help, see:
What if I switch back to my old phone?
You will need to pair your devices with the old phone again.
This applies when switching between phones, not just when setting up a brand-new phone. Do not expect the previous pairing to resume automatically after you have paired the devices with another phone.
What if I no longer have my old phone?
You can still pair your devices with another phone. Access to the old phone is not required, because you do not need to unpair the devices there first.
Settings stored on the devices can be read back. App-only scenes and custom flash patterns that you can no longer access will need to be recreated.
What if I delete and reinstall the app?
Deleting the app and its local data removes custom scenes and custom flash patterns stored only in the app. Reinstalling the app does not restore them, and Lumos cannot recover them after deletion.
Settings already stored on your helmets and lights are separate from the app’s local data. You can read those settings back after pairing the devices again.
